Reconstructing Biblical Battles

Ancient ruins tell part of the stories recounted in the Bible, but a joint study between Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University uses new dating technology to piece together historical events to see how closely they resemble those described in scripture. Using readings of ancient geomagnetic fields, researchers found verification of Old Testament accounts of military campaigns against the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Improving Stress in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Less stress! A new study led by Dr. Shahar Lev-Ari of the Faculty of Medicine has proven the effectiveness of the Inquiry-Based Stress Reduction (IBSR) technique among women with increased risk of breast cancer (those carrying the BRCA1/BRCA2 genes). Researchers say the technique can be very helpful in coping with stressful events, enhance emotional and psychological well-being, improve quality of sleep, and assist in decision-making. Although there is no effective treatment for preventing the illness, this technique can improve the emotional well-being of those suffering from uncertainty. READ MORE

 

Pressure Chamber Therapy

A new study from researchers at the Sagol School of Neuroscience and School of Psychological Sciences finds that pressure chamber therapy can be effective in the functional improvement of autism. The study shows the treatment may significantly improve social abilities and the condition of the autistic brain. The research is likely to have clinical implications for clinical treatment. FALL 4 TAU in Miami

Tel Aviv University governors, friends, board members, and alumni gathered in Miami to celebrate the University and its contribution to the world and strengthening Israel. Attendees enjoyed a weekend of content, speakers, seminars, and just the facts. Major General Amikam Norkin, the former commander of the Israeli Air Force was the keynote speaker and noted that "the advancements from Tel Aviv University contribute to the strength of the IDF." Among those who joined to talk about their research and share their work were Professor Dan Peer, Professor Vered Padler-Karavani, and Dr. Omri Bronstein; and alumni including Alon Aranya (who confirmed season three of Tehran!), Moran Cerf, David Scharia, and the Consul General of Israel in Florida Maor Elbaz-Starinsky.
