Helping Ukrainian Students
Tel Aviv University (TAU) has established an emergency scholarship fund for Ukrainian students whose academic pursuits have been interrupted by the war. Since announcing the scholarship fund and goal of raising $1MM, hundreds of applications have been received and TAU has already raised $700k from three generous donors. For the ninth year in a row, American Friends of Tel Aviv University (AFTAU) has received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, which recognizes AFTAU's commitment to transparency, financial health, commitment to accountability, and industry best practices. Recycling Practices 500,000 Years Ago
Researchers from TAU's Jacob M. Alkow Department of Archaeology found that collectors in the prehistoric world (500,000 years ago) recycled old stone tools to preserve the memory of their ancestors. The study found that there was an emotional urge to collect old human-made artefacts, mostly as a means of preserving the memory of their ancestors and maintaining their connectedness with their place and time.
