Blast Off!

Travel to space tomorrow, Saturday, February 20th, with TAU! Watch the live launch and a panel discussion featuring TAU researchers when TAU's nanosatellite, TAU-SAT1, hitches a ride on a NASA rocket to the International Space Station (ISS). Once it arrives, astronauts will release the CubeSat into orbit to conduct research. READ MORE

Dr. Anthony Fauci Wins Dan David Prize

Dr. Anthony Fauci has been awarded The Dan David Prize, one of Israel's most prestigious awards, headquartered at Tel Aviv University. Dr. Fauci is one of three $1 million prize winners for his work and for "courageously defending science in the face of uninformed opposition during the challenging COVID crisis." READ MORE

And the Oscar Goes to ...

A Tel Aviv University team, including three alumni, won the Academy Award in the Scientific & Engineering category for 2021. The award was presented on February 13 and highlights a unique technology that allows a director to see all shooting angles on a set simultaneously in real time. The technology was developed by Amimon, the team's startup company. READ MORE

Four Stars for AFTAU

Charity Navigator, the world's largest and most utilized independent non-profit evaluator, has awarded AFTAU a four-star rating for the eighth consecutive year. The acknowledgement recognizes AFTAU's commitment to industry best practices. Less than 6% of the 9,000 charities evaluated have received this distinction. READ MORE

How Purple Rose to Royal Status

Purple has long been associated with royalty, power, and wealth. In a recent archeological discovery, a TAU team has discovered that purple was used as far back as 3,000 years ago for the wardrobes of King David and King Solomon. The team found evidence of the purple dye existing during a recent dig in the Timna Valley in Israel, about 137 miles south of Jerusalem. This is the first time the color has been detected on 3,000-year-old fabric. READ MORE
